Great book. Effortless to read. My brain very much enjoyed it.
I most enjoyed learning about neutrinos.
I first heard about similar particles in a podcast episode, then saw them in videos, but I had no idea they could just travel through the Earth?!
Makes me excited for the future of telecommunications.
This means that when a particle accelerator (which produces neutrinos) wants to send a neutrino beam to a detector somewhere else in the world, all it has to do is point the beam at the detector—even if it’s on the other side of the Earth!

Embarrassingly, this book lead me to the conclusion that water expands when it’s hot, which is a major contributor from global warming to rising sea levels:
As it turns out, the ocean is expanding, since it’s getting warmer. This is (currently) the main way global warming is raising the sea level.

I tried to explain the hair dryer question to Becky:
What would happen if a hair dryer with continuous power were turned on and put in an air tight 1 x 1 x 1-meter box?

I think I lost her when I got to the bit where it starts flying around because anything it touches makes an explosion. It would exit the atmosphere if it touched the ocean.
