Issue #2 of a newsletter is always daunting.
Similarly daunting; a follow up album.
When Oasis recorded their sophomore album—(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?—anticipation was high, due to the wide success of their debut album—Definitely Maybe. Fortunately, Noel Gallagher had already written a solution; literally. Both albums were written at the same time.
Their second album was well received; feeling the same as their first, only more polished in sound. Unfortunately their third album—Be Here Now—distanced them from their audience, in class and sound.
Just as unfortunate for me; although I have many ideas, I did not write issue #1 and #2 at the same time. With optimistim; I don’t have an audience, nor does it take years to write a letter, so I am able to be here with you, now.
This newsletter is to be a column, and a letter to my friends.
I don’t have an audience, but the least I can do is write to the people who may be reading; friends, family, and the many indexing robots who hail from SEO.
This newsletter is to emphasise story. It can be ideas, but story is most important for reading.
This newsletter is inspired; Manu, John, Nicolas, Jason, Justin, Matt, Cabel.1
I don’t want to be a marketing Seth or Scott, or a LinkedIn influencer with marriage-proposal-business-analogies.
I could be as infrequent as Manu and Nicolas, or as consistent as a daily John, or a monthly Justin with posts in-between.
This newsletter is to be short and simple, with aspirations for appropriate length.
This newsletter may contain goals, experiences, recommendations, or knowledge.
This newsletter may sign off with ‘from Nat’, as in my early emails and physical letters.2 Sometimes it may not. Only a sole post, floating on the interconnected waves, ready to be surfed.
I’ll see you in the swell, or maybe you’ll find me dried up on the beach.
from Nat
